Since I have been chosen by the people and given an opportunity by Bharatiya Janata Party to be their voice, I have made it my mission to serve the people, by ensuring easy access to all the government schemes and introducing new services to accommodate the increasing necessities of individuals from all walks of life.
Dr. Pramod Pandurang Sawant, was born on April 24, 1973, in a family from Pali-Kothambi. His father was a Machine Operator in a mining company and his mother was a homemaker. His father was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the 'Bharatiya Majdoor Sangh' which piqued Dr. Sawant's interest in social work.
His father’s inclination toward social work also taught him that standing up for your right is not an easy path, but a path that one must strive towards.
Dr. Sawant completed his primary education in Goa and then pursued his Ayurvedic Medical degree at the Ayurvedic Medical College of Ganga Education Society in Kolhapur. After completing his doctorate, his commitment to social work led him to pursue his MSW, a postgraduate degree in Social Work.
After completing his Ayurvedic Medical Degree, Dr. Pramod Sawant began his medical practice he was fully devoted to social work as well. During this time, he tried to reach out to the people and decided to help the needy by establishing the NGO, Sai Life Care. Dr. Sawant's dedication to social work further led him to pursue a career in politics.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is known for its strong emphasis on nationalism, ideological leaders, and economic development. The party's emphasis on meritocracy and performance-based leadership has enabled the country to rise to the top and bring about positive changes in the nation.
Dr. Sawant began his political journey with BJP at the booth level. He grew as a dedicated Karyakarta from being a booth member. Meanwhile, he joined the Government of Goa as an Ayurvedic Physician and continued to serve the community through his NGO, Sai Life Care.
In 2008, the Bharatiya Janata Party was introspecting a new leadership in Pali constituency. The then Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar approached Dr. Sawant and asked him to lead the election. Dr. Sawant resigned from his Class 1 gazetted job at the party’s behest and contested the election. Although he did not win the election in 2008, Dr. Sawant's journey as a leader began from that moment.
Dr. Sawant continued to work politically as well as socially in his constituency which was renamed Sankhali. In 2010, he was declared the State President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. At the time, the Bharatiya Janata Party was the opposition party in the state and the country. Dr. Sawant held a lot of responsibility as a youth leader and formed a strong and committed team with his fellow Karyakartas.
The period from 2010 to 2012 was critical in the development of the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2011, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha organized a massive campaign named 'Mahagai Rally' across Goa against the alarming rise of inflation. The campaign shook all 40 constituencies in the state, bringing the issue to the forefront of public attention. Dr. Sawant and his team laid a solid foundation, creating a favorable environment for the Bharatiya Janata Party to flourish in Goa
In 2012 under the leadership of Manohar Bhai, Bharatiya Janata Party won the Vidhan Sabha Elections with a clear majority in Goa. Dr. Pramod Sawant also made his maiden entry into Goa Vidhan Sabha as an MLA from Sankhali constituency.
After winning the 2012 Vidha Sabha Elections, Dr. Pramod Sawant was appointed as the Vice Chairman of Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation under the chairmanship of then Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar. Nearing the end of 2014, he was handed over, the Chairmanship of Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation.
In 2017 Dr. Pramod Sawant won his second consecutive election from Sankhli. In this term, Dr. Sawant was honourably elected as the Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly and he carried out the respected duties with dignified discretion.
After the untimely demise of Goa's beloved leader Manohar Bhai Parrikar, Dr. Pramod Sawant was elected to continue the legacy of Goa's development and its journey toward the establishment of a 'Golden Goa'. During his 3-year tenure as Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Sawant established a dynamic image as a young and visionary leader.
Dr. Pramod Sawant led a successful 2022 Vidhan Sabha election campaign in Goa, resulting in a resounding victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party. Out of the 40 constituencies, the BJP won a majority of 20 seats. Dr. Sawant was sworn in as the Chief Minister once again. During his second term, Dr. Sawant's unwavering commitment to the betterment of Goa has continued to establish public-oriented governance in the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant introduced the flagship initiative of Swayampurna Goa, which aims to make Goa self-sufficient and self-reliant. Under this initiative, various programs were launched to encourage local entrepreneurship and promote self-employment. Various training and development programs have been launched to provide vocational training and skill-building opportunities to the youth of Goa. The initiative has received widespread support and appreciation from the people of Goa, and its impact is already visible in the form of increased job opportunities and economic growth in the state.
Dr. Sawant's efforts toward promoting self-sufficiency and sustainable development in Goa have received widespread praise and recognition. His vision for a self- reliant Goa has inspired many and continues to guide the state toward progress and prosperity. Dr. Sawant's vision and commitment to the welfare of Goa and its people have earned him immense respect and admiration. His journey as a leader serves as an inspiration to many being a testament to his hard work and dedication toward serving the people. His efforts are shaping the state's future and paving the way for a better tomorrow
